My name is Kent. I’m a photographer.

I currently reside in Roanoke, Virginia, serving clients in my hometown and the New River Valley. I am available for portraits, events, and commercial work.

I became fascinated with photos at a young age, using whatever camera was available to me at the time to capture people, places, and things that interested me. If I travelled to a new city or made new friends, my first instinct was to take a photo. Those photographs made important memories feel tangible, which is what turned my curiosity of photography into a lifelong passion.

Growing up in Southwest Virginia instilled in me a love of the outdoors. While exploring Appalachia I wanted to capture and express the wanderlust I felt in a way that felt real. I began taking photos during my local adventures hoping that I could not only capture physical locations, but also the feeling they brought me. I quickly noticed that composition, light, and color were tools that could be used to create distinct emotions within photographs. Those experiences taught me that photography is a form of expression that not only captures a subject, but captures character, atmosphere, and emotion.

When I’m not taking photos I’m probably spinning an indie rock record, checking out a local barbeque joint, or reading philosophy.
